About us

We are combating child exploitation by providing a safe haven for runway youth.

Our name was derived from the following biblical scriptures:

Luke 8:2
And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils (KJV)

When Mary Magdalene came before Jesus she was healed and changed. When our youth come to us, we want to do whatever we can to mend their broken spirits and show them that God loves them.

 Ezekiel 46:9
But when the people of the land shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it. (KJV)

When youth come into our shelter, they will come in with various problems. However, the way that they enter will be different from the way they exit.

Magdalene’s Gate is a faith based 501(c)(3) non profit that will provide temporary shelter for female runaway youth between the ages of 7-17. Though we are a faith based organization, we will accept any youth regardless of their religion or race. The youth that will reside in our shelter will include at-risk, homeless and/ or runaway youth. Once these youth are in our care we will provide educational, therapeutic, and family counseling services to help them with dealing with the past and present trauma in their lives.

Our Mission

Our mission is to enrich and enhance the lives of runaway youth between the ages of 7-17 in the Gwinnett County area by providing immediate assistance and referral services through partnerships with community organizations.

Our Vision:

Magdalene’s Gate will be the leading place of refuge for runaway youth between the ages of 7-17 in the Gwinnet County area. Our name will be a known resource to youth since we will be providing temporary housing and assistance.

By committing to help runaway youth we are:

  • Helping to prevent child exploitation and human trafficking amongst runway youth
  • Reducing the risks of underage drinking
  • Combating abuse in the lives of the youth
  • Decreasing their chances of incarceration
  • Reducing suicide rates among teenagers
  • Minimizing addictions to illegal drugs and other substances
  • Reducing their chances of being part of a gang

Our Goal:

Our goal is to be a temporary housing facility for runaway youth in the state of Georgia with the ability to one day serve every county. We are in hopes to service at least 40-50 at-risk, runaway youth per month through our outreach services and community partnerships. The youth that we serve on a short term basis will have an increased knowledge of the available resources and paths they can take to improve their living situations.
